- Day 1: Casablanca – Rabat – Meknes
After leaving your hotel or riad, we will visit the Hassan II Mosque before departing to Rabat. In Rabat, we’ll visit the Mechouar of the Royal Palace, the ruins of Chellah, the Mohammed V Mausoleum and the Hassan Tower. After lunch we will head to Meknes, arriving in early evening. You can have dinner in the restaurant overlooking the square opposite the beautiful Bab Mansour gate. Your accommodation will be in a traditional riad in the old medina.
- Day 2: Meknes – Volubilis – Fez
After breakfast we will take a tour of Meknes including El Hdim square, Bab El Mansour, the massive gate which is the entrance to the old city and the Jewish quarter, the Royal Granaries & the city rampart. We will then depart via Volubilis, and see the Roman ruins and Moulay Idriss, the holy town and an important place of pilgrimage where the founder of Morocco’s first dynasty is buried. We will continue onto Fez. Dinner and accommodation at a traditional riad.
- Day 3: Fez
You will have a guided tour to discover the the medina and the famous souks (markets) of Fez with its narrow cobbled streets, filled with ancient mosques and towering green-glazed minarets. The tour will include a visit to the tannery and a ceramics cooperative to see traditional Moroccan crafts.
- Day 4: Fez – Ilfrane – Azrou – Midelt – Merzouga
After breakfast we will depart for Merzouga through the Middle Atlas region. We will drive through Ifrane, the “Switzerland” of Morocco and the Azrou Cedar forests and see the monkey-like Barbary macaques living there. We will continue to Midelt where we will have lunch. We will then follow the Ziz River through the valley and stop to see the Ziz Gorges on our way to Merzouga.
- Day 5: Merzouga – Khamlia – Rissani – Erg Chebbi
Today we will explore the desert region and the Erg Chebbi desert dunes. We will will make a circuit of the desert dunes where you will have the opportunity to see the the nomad’s way of life and the amazing changing contrasts of the of the desert. We will visit the “Black Village” of Khamlia to see the Gnawa musicians. We will have a traditional Berber pizza for lunch in the ancient capital of Rissani. In the afternoon we will ride camels to see the sunset over the dunes and spend the night in the desert camp. We will have a traditional tagine dinner, drink delicious mint tea, listen to traditional Berber music while watching the stars and the rising moon in the amazing Sahara desert.
- Day 6: Merzouga – Todra Gorges – Dades Gorges
We will wake up early to see the spectacular sunrise over the dunes before making our way back to the hotel for breakfast and a shower. We will cross the palm lined valleys of Tourog and Tinjdad to arrive at Todra Gorge. There, we’ll take a walk in the Todra Gorges and have lunch in a local restaurant before continuing to our accommodation in the Dades Gorge.
- Day 7: Dades Gorge – El Kelaa Magona – Skoura – Ouarzazate
After breakfast we will take a walk in the gorge and then take an off-road track to see the nomad caves. We will continue via El Kelaa Magona, Valley of the Roses and the Skoura oasis to arrive early evening in Ouarzazate.
- Day 8: Ouarzazate
Ouarzazate is the Hollywood of Morocco. Here you’ll have a day on your own for shopping or sightseeing. You can visit the Taourirt Kasbah and the Atlas film studios.
- Day 9: Ouarzazate – Telouet – Marrakech
After breakfast we will depart to the World Heritage site, the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah. Next, we’ll visit the traditional High Atlas Berber village of Telouet and the Kasbah el Glaoui. We will have lunch in a local restaurant in Telouet before descending the Tizi-n-Tichka to Marrakech.
- Day 10: Marrakech
This guided tour of Marrakech will include a visit to the Menara Gardens, the Koutoubia Mosque, the Saâdien tombs and the Bahia palace. You can explore the amazing medina and the fascinating Jamaa El Fna square with lively entertainment and lovely souks (markets).
- Day 11: Marrakech
You will have the day to explore Marrakech on your own or opt for a day tour to the Ouzoud Waterfalls.
- Day 12: Marrakech to Essaouira
You can spend the morning relaxing or shopping in Marrakech before we depart at your convenience to Essaouira, a beautiful city on the Atlantic Ocean.
- Day 13: Essaouira
Enjoy your day wandering the old fortified fishing port of Essaouira on the Atlantic coast, enjoying the amazing mixture of Portuguese and Berber architecture. Explore the colourful souks, art galleries, the carpentry workshops devoted to cedar and Thuya wood carving and the fortified harbour with its stalls of freshly caught seafood.
- Day 14: Essaouira – Marrakech (transfer to Casablanca airport if required)
You’ll have the morning free, to relax or shop in Essaouira before leaving in the early afternoon to arrive in Marrakech by 4 p.m., or earlier depending on your departing flight or whether you want more time in Marrakech.
